FARM WEDDING: With a BIG Dose of Color!

FROM REAL WEDDINGS ON THE STYLE ME PRETTY BLOG

With the vision for a casual, "backyard chic" celebration, it's no wonder Ragan and DeAndra chose a working farm as the backdrop for their Colorado wedding. We Tie The Knots came alongside the couple as they planned the details, including no shortage of whimsy, color, and style. Thanks to Connie Whitlock we've got an entire gallery ready to make your Friday so much sweeter. See it all here!

From the Bride...

Ragan and I met almost 10 years ago at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado. A love for the same band led to an effortless and unwavering friendship that took 8 years to blossom into the deepest love either of us had ever known or thought possible. The perfect progression.

After a Christmas proposal with the Eiffel Tower as the backdrop, we knew we had a hard act to follow. Having both grown up and lived all our lives in Colorado, we didn’t want to stray too far for our special day. The Farmette in Lyons, CO ended up being the perfect venue for our laid back, “backyard chic” vision.

Being an active, working farm, the open layout fostered movement for our guests and provided a less structured setting. The fallen branch was the perfect backdrop for the ceremony and the reception space was large enough to compliment farm table seating, food trucks, and an open fire S’mores station.

. . . The overall color palette accomplished by my floral designer and wedding planner was, undoubtedly, one of the most exceptional components of the day. Going into the design process, never before have Ragan and I felt so out of our element! It was in that moment that we made the decision to let them run with it all and were we ever so glad we did.

There were so many special touches that will always hold a place in our memories. The invitation suite, beautifully designed and created by Ragan’s cousin who owns Steracle Press in Chicago, set the stage for the overall feel of the wedding. The reclaimed wood escort card stand handmade by my father was awe-inspiring and immediately grabbed the attention of arriving guests. A handkerchief that belonged to my great grandmother and a pin of my grandmother's tied to my bouquet not only fulfilled my old, borrowed and blue, but also served as a symbol of their presence on the big day. Our favorite bluegrass band, Rapidgrass Quintet, kept the ceremony light and fun and carried the jovial feel of the evening from cocktail hour through dinner. Homemade, lavender-infused honey from the Farmette thanked our guests for attending while glow sticks and sunglasses took the DJ and dancers late into the night.

We’re so fortunate to be able to say that we had our dream wedding. It was truly our version of perfection, exemplified. We couldn’t have been luckier to have a more supportive and talented team there to guide us along the way and execute it impeccably. If there’s any advice I can give for future brides, it’s to make sure you have a good, overall vision and then to assemble a team you trust and let them do what they do best. Throughout what can be a stressful time, be sure to enjoy the process; all of it.
